Research Interests
After receiving a PhD. in bioengineering with a focus on red blood cell lifespan and senescence, I pursued my interests in microfluidics studying vascular system cell dynamics.  Specifically, I have worked on the development of silicon microfluidic devices and automated motion/ image acquisition systems for high-throughput cell assays.  Projects include the development of microfluidic binding assays to test the strength of activated neutrophil adhesion to a matrix substratum as a measurement of inflammation and studies of transgenic platelet adhesion dynamics to diverse matrix proteins. Other projects include the development of a magnetic clamping platform to allow live-tissue conditions for long-term perfusion studies of endothelial cells and patterning of matrix molecules for neutrophil rolling studies.
