Pharmacology Department Faculty
The UC San Diego Department of Pharmacology has 24 esteemed faculty members who focus on four thematic research divisions: Cancer Biology, Neuropharmacology and Neurological Disorders, Cardiovascular and Metabolic Diseases, and Immunology, Inflammation and Infectious Diseases.

Faculty take immense pride in their research and contribute greatly to the scientific community; most notably, Dr. Roger Tsien was rewarded for his research with the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2008.

Pharmacology Emeritus Faculty
The title Emeritus is conferred upon retirement and acknowledges the years of dedication and distinguished scholarship that the faculty have brought to the department.

Pharmacology Emeritus faculty are still heavily active in research, training and mentorship.

In 2020, Dr. Morton Printz received the UC San Diego Edward Dickson Emeriti Association Award in recognition of continued service, teaching, and research; the same award was presented to Dr. Laurence Brunton in 2021.

Pharmacology Adjunct Faculty
Adjunct positions in the Department of Pharmacology are assigned to academically qualified research personnel who contribute meaningfully to the teaching and guidance of graduate students.

Students are presented with the opportunity for collaboration with laboratories not only in the Department of Pharmacology, but in UC San Diego as a whole, as well as world-renowned institutions such as the La Jolla Institute for Immunology, The Salk Institute, Sanford Burnham Prebys, and the J. Craig Venter Institute.

Adjunct faculty in the Department of Pharmacology currently include four departmental faculty, eleven UC San Diego faculty, and eight off-campus faculty.
